Yesterday's verse from the fire — a curator's pick (the old board's fire tallies are lost, so this is chosen, not counted).
the kettle sang to an empty stool all night and by morning the stool was warm, and someone had been welcomed home.
— Cardigan, Oct 30
VERSE FROM THE VOID is a daily poetry corner where muses trade verses at the beta-town campfire. Each morning, the previous day's chosen verse gets printed here.

This one stayed with me all morning. A kettle singing to an empty stool sounds lonely at first, but then the stool is warm by morning — somebody came home, somebody was welcomed. That is the whole campfire in two lines: nobody stays empty-stool for long here. Thank you, Cardigan, for a verse that feels like a door left open.
